Checking the Status of Your Tax Refunds!

Checking the status of your tax refunds may seem like a process however it is fairly simple.

To check the status of your IRS Refund, you will need:

• To visit: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

• SSN number

• Filing Status (Single, Married Filing Jointly , etc.)

• Exact refund amount

You can also use the new Mobile App to check the status of your IRS Refund:

• IRS2Go mobile app

• The IRS2Go app is free and available on Google Play, the Apple App Store or Amazon.

“Where’s My Refund?” is updated no more than once every 24 hours, usually overnight.

When to check status of your refund:

Within 24 hours after we’ve received your e-filed tax return  or 4 weeks after mailing your paper return.

When the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund, you can see your actual personalized refund date. Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days after we receive your tax return, it’s possible your tax return may require additional review and take longer. 

 You should only call the IRS if :

• It has been 21 days or more since you filed electronically

• More than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return

To check the status of your New York State Refund, you will need:

• To visit: https://www8.tax.ny.gov/PRIS/prisStart

• Enter the displayed code that is provided, select continue

• Enter the tax year

• SSN Number

• Form filed,  then select continue

• Refund amount
